There will be an opportunity to stay in the studio in the afternoons and practice what you’ve learned. This will be untutored.

This 2D animation course has been designed to teach you the skills you need to become a scene build artist working in the animation industry. The training will be in person, where you will be able to get to know the workings of our exciting Bristol animation studio.
During the course, we will be offering each participant an interview with our hiring team, and 1 successful candidate will get a 12-month contract with us as a scene build artist on a pre-school series. This is a PAYE salary: Real Living Wage/ approximately £2,185 per month before tax and National Insurance. Start date: Early December 2026.
But wait, what is a scene build artist?
Animated scenes consist of many different parts – the background picture, the characters, props, foreground elements and also the audio track containing the character voices and sound effects.
As a scene build artist, you will be responsible for collecting all these parts, putting them together in the right order and then creating the actual look of the shot by placing the characters in the right position and using the camera to create a beautifully composed scene ready for the animators. This is all done in industry-standard software called Toon Boom Harmony. Don’t worry if you’ve never heard of it, that’s what this course is for!
